Marikoth was the one to cut the connection to the Luminus first. Finn felt a hard, cold smile flitter across his lips at this show of weakness. The raven made soft, happy sounds as it pressed its head against his cheek and he ruffled its feathers. Marikoth knew that the consequences for using Death Magic were coming home to roost.
As the light of the Luminus faded, Finn turned towards Rohan and Hugues. He was still encased in the icy embrace of his magic and the god he served. There was a distance between him and them, much like the distance between the living and the dead. But seeing Rohan cracked that frozen shell and made him want to reach out. Both men looked at him with trepidation, but Rohan quickly banished the expression. From him, it was borne of concern. From Hugues, it was one of fear. And Finn didn’t mind that so much.
