Finn had to stop himself from running ahead of Jani to get to Ryleth. But he didn’t know where the Fae priestess actually was, so he had to match his steps with the little girl’s. Jani was moving as fast as her little legs could carry her. But they’d been delayed in leaving the market as the fruit had to be dealt with and the hawker had to be grudgingly paid. Now he was as anxious as he could be to get to Ryleth and, of course, Sweetfire.
As they headed towards the main gate out of Aymar, the guards grew uneasy. They strode on either side of him now, not willing to hang back after what had happened with the hawker. Finn wondered if they were worried about what someone might try to do to him or what he might do to others. It was probably the latter. Surely, he had proven to them that he needed no protection.
